Twenty-seven graduate and undergraduate students from Jacksonville attended the symposium chaperoned by Professores Michele Bednarzyk, Judy M. Comeaux and John P. McDonough. Prof. Nadja Nestler chaired the meeting on behalf of PMU .
The symposium looked into nursing and midwifery developments as well as challenges across the WHO European Region and in local settings. Gabrielle Jacob, the WHO Programme Manager, and Dr. Rita F. D’Aoust from Jacksoville gave their input virtually. Other guest as well as all colleagues from the PMU engaged the international audience with fascinating and thought provoking talks on site. In all lectures attention was payed to empowering nurses and advancing nursing profession via novel educational strategies, such as introducing AND, NDU, PhD and DNP programs.
Enriching cross-border discussions and cultural exchange regarding the future of nursing continued until late night and even the day after.
